Now, Isn't This Interesting

The last time the world felt this unsettled for me was on a late-night cross-country flight home after a project in New York City just after 9/11. It was on this flight I wrote the first draft of Getting Through These Days.

Once again, we all face a very significant challenge we learn more about each day. I want to share three reminders for us all as we struggle to adjust to a very fluid situation filled with many unknowns.

Three Sanity Evoking Things to Remember During These Trying Times:

1.    Self Care is Job One

·         Eat good food, get lots of rest and wander outside for as much fresh air and exercise as possible.

·         Follow your Public Health Authority guidelines.

·         Minimize your intake of bad news.

·         Watch a favorite love story or comedy rather than binge watch The Walking Dead.

·         Stay connected (FaceTime is great) with loved ones.

·         Take on a new learning project.

·         Catch up on your reading.

·         Boost your immune system.

·         Listen to your favorite music regularly.

·         Balance normal reactions of genuine concern with things that make you happy.

2.    Keep Things in Perspective

·         Throughout history, humans have faced constant outbreaks of infectious disease. Eventually, we get through them.

·         Unprecedented levels of shared research into vaccines, drugs, antibodies and cures are happening around the world.

·         Early signs out of China and South Korea suggest they have significantly slowed the outbreak.

·         Strong evidence indicates following Public Health guidelines for self-isolation and social distance makes an enormous difference in slowing the spread.

·         The local, national and global economy will bounce back, as it always has in the past.

3.    Be Thankful

·         Think about this time of self-isolation as a staycation.

·         Dedicated health professionals are working above and beyond to help us all through this time.

·         Significant adversity often brings opportunity.

·         Major threats like this often bring out the best in people. Communities rally to support each other in ways that are safe. Do your part if you can.

·         Find ways to express love and support for your immediate circle of family and friends. We are all in this together.

Over the past while, I’ve been updating our Online Learning Center. New courses have been added. Cost effective Bundles of resources have been created.

Given this time of isolation and distance from many of our familiar connections of work and friends, learning can be a big help. Online learning has never been so helpful. As one way to help get us all through this challenging time, I’m implementing a 25% discount on all courses, resources and bundles available through our Online Learning Center. Just use the code GTTD25 to get your discount. It will be available through to April 30, 2020, possibly longer as this turbulence continues to play out.

If there is any way I can support you and your organization during this time, just ask. I’ll help in every way I can.

Take one day at a time and remember to take very good care of yourself,

Chris Edgelow
